i had planned this session for a few weeks, but didn't want to do them here in my yard. it's just so green everywhere i just didn't think it would look very interesting. i wanted a field, or even just a little patch of weeds somewhere! everywhere that i saw that would work either wasn't available (grumpy people who don't like others on their property) or i just didn't know who owned it. a friend, a seriously fantastic photographer type friend, offered to let me come look at the field she had in her back yard.
it was perfect!! i saw it on a monday and just couldn't wait until thursday to do this session. my friend was going to help me with it all. and then.....it rained. it rained most of the day thursday and i thought for sure we'd have to postpone. by the time i was to shoot it had stopped, but it was really cloudy. i asked my friend if we should go ahead with it and she said we should try it.
i am so glad that we did!
wedding gift when we were married almost 20 years ago. my mom never got
to meet our last three children but she would have absolutely had a blast with
all of them! i try to sneak one of the two quilts i have of hers into my kids' sessions
when i can (and sometimes client sessions, too).
